The Whyte Home

The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies has a number of heritage Banff buildings in it’s grounds. You can take a guided tour of the interior of two of them – the Whyte and Moore homes. I did this tour back in October, I’d been keen to do it for a while but hadn’t been able to make it until then.

The Whyte Home – dream house!!

The tour of the two properties gives you an insight into the history of some of the early residents in the town and explains the reasons behind moving them to the museum site.

Windy Warden Cabin

Unfortunately you can’t take photos of the interiors of the properties that you see on the tour, so if you want to see what they look like inside you’ll have to visit the museum! However you are free to wander around the grounds of the museum to admire the architecture of the other heritage properties.

Jack Sinclair’s Cabin

I would really love to have the opportunity to live in a cabin like one of these – especially the Whyte home. It looks like the ideal mountain home and seems very peaceful near the banks of the Bow River. I really love this type of architecture and would relish the opportunity to live in a building like this if I had the opportunity to!
