After scrambling to the summit of Mount Fairview at Lake Louise, I had a little bit of time before meeting my friends at the Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse, so I decided to see what the view was like from the top of Saddle Mountain. It didn’t take as long as I thought it would to reach the top of Mount Fairview as we had left very early. This  left me plenty of time to scramble up Saddle Mountain opposite to Mount Fairview on Saddleback Pass.

Leaving the top of Saddleback Pass I followed a relatively unused trail out of the larches of the pass and up the rocky slope of Saddle Mountain. It didn’t take too long to get to the top which was marked by a small rock pile.

I spent a little bit of time at the top to take photographs, and then descended back to Saddleback Pass. It look a little bit longer getting back down to the pass as there were lots of rocks to cross over.

Once back at Saddleback Pass it didn’t take long to head back down to the shoreline of Lake Louise. I then made my way to Plain of Six Glaciers to meet back up with my friends!

In total the return distance from the shoreline of Lake Louise to the summit of Saddle Mountain is approximately 8 kilometres (5 miles) with roughly 660 metres (2165 feet) elevation gain.
