Tunnel Mountain Spring

Writing this, I’m sitting at the top of Tunnel Mountain. It’s a warm June evening and it’s busy in the town of Banff. There’s a breeze blowing through the trees, strong enough that you can hear it. I’ve spent most of the day travelling about in Banff and Yoho National Parks, so it’s nice to spend some time outside now.

I did this hike back in September. That time there had been a light dusting of snow, but this time there’s no snow about and it’s much warmer.

It didn’t take long to reach the top, but it’s nice to get out of the busy town without needing to drive.

Having spent a little bit of time just enjoying the views, and writing this, I’ll head back down to the town now. Goodnight!

The total return distance for the hike is approximately 2.5 km (1.6 miles), from the lower trailhead with an elevation gain of roughly 300 m (980 feet).
